Tourism sector attracts substantial FDI

The tourism sector has attracted 190 foreign-invested projects valued at 4.46 billion USD, the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) reported.

Singapore is the largest tourism investor in Vietnam with 20 projects at a combined registered capital of 1.282 billion USD, followed by Taiwan with 15 projects capitalised at 784 million USD, and Hong Kong with 41 projects valued at 642 million USD. Other investors in this sector are the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, France and Japan.

Those projects are located mainly in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, the Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, the northern province of Quang Ninh, the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, the central province of Khanh Hoa and the central city of Danang.

The domestic tourism sector has so far invested in five projects in neighbouring countries and in Japan, Germany and the US.
